GENERAL
INFORMATION
Updated
2006
Welcome to the Miller School of Irish Dancing. The school has grown steadily over
the last 18 years, and is one of a number of Irish Dancing schools in South
Australia. We have numerous
pupils enrolled in the school, with ages ranging from 5 years to 26
years. I have classes running at
Kensington Gardens, Blackwood and Collinswood. In additional, by arrangement I also provide private
lessons.
I have enclosed some information, which
is useful for new families and students to Irish Dancing.
Fundraising and other events
The Miller School of Irish Dancing, like most community groups, relies
on fundraising and the assistance of many willing and able volunteers. Our fundraising efforts throughout
the year are to provide subsidies for families for costumes, interstate
travel for events, which involve the Miller School, and subsidies for eligible
families with tuition fees.
Our fundraising also enables me to arrange for our students to receive
expert tuition from Irish Dancing workshops from overseas.
End of year concert
These are held at the end of each calendar
year, and are fun and enjoyable events.
All students are welcome to participate.
Tuition
Payments for tuition are as you attend
for the first term, and on commencement of the next term, you will receive an
account for that term. The
Miller School also provides fees subsidies for eligible families - for
further information please discuss this with the director.
Invoices MUST NOT be amended / altered
in any way. Any other fees payable must be made in a separate form or
payment. Ie. Shoes, extra lessons etc.
IF a pupil misses a lesson, then they
may make up that lesson in that SAME term. All other lessons not made up for
in that said term, will automatically be abolished.
If a pupil misses 3 or more consecutive
lessons, then an altered fee arrangement will be made by the principal.
If term fees are not paid within that
said term, then the principal has the right to withhold tuition and
competitions until the said amount is paid.
Registration
After your first term, your child must register
with the Miller School of Irish Dancing and the Australian Irish Dancing
Association (AIDA) and the Irish Dancing Commission. I will send you a form to be
completed and paid for. The fees are set every new calendar year. If a pupil
is required to register in either term 1, 2 or 3, the whole fee is payable.
If a pupil requires to register in term 4, then that said fee will carry over
to the following year and any increases will be payable.
Hot weather policy
Two out of the three halls that I hire
are air-conditioned.
For the Blackwood locations, generally
if the temperature is over 35 degrees, class will be cancelled. But, in saying this, please check
this website, or ring me and there will be a message on my answering
machine informing you if class is cancelled or not. Please ring after 12 noon
on the said day of class, as I will leave message then.
I hope that this provides you with some
useful information about the Miller School of Irish Dancing, and Irish
dancing in general. I look forward
to teaching your child, and hope that your child finds Irish dancing a
rewarding and enjoyable experience.
